Justice Ministry Police Investigators Move Ahead With Indictment Against A Policewoman

The Justice Ministry Police Investigations Unit filed an indictment with the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court against a policewoman for assault during a demonstration near Jerusalem’s Kikar Shabbos and for obstructing court proceedings. In addition, the Justice Ministry unit decided to bring a police officer involved in the incident before an internal disciplinary unit, which was conducted by the Jerusalem team in the Department for the Investigation of Police.

On January 18, 2017, during a demonstration, the defendant and other policemen arrived at Samuel HaNavi Street in Jerusalem following a report on the burning of trash cans and noticed burning fire, thick smoke and a crowd of people. Under the supervision of the officer, the defendant began to disperse the crowd.

At the same time, she noticed the complainant shouting at another policewoman. The defendant approached the complainant, hit his head three times, grabbed his head and knocked him to the ground. After the end of the incident, and in order to conceal the wrongful attack, the defendant recorded a false action report, in which she falsely stated that the complainant attacked her with kicks, and subsequently tried to push him back into the road.
