Nadler Hails Ostreicher’s Release on Bail, Urges Speedy Trial and Due Process Rights

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) applauded the release on bail of his constituent, Jacob Ostreicher, from Bolivian prison. Nadler, who has written to U.S. and Bolivian authorities to push for justice, called for a speedy trial and full due process rights for Mr. Ostreicher. He issued the following statement:

“I am thrilled to hear that, after more than 18 harrowing months in prison, my constituent Jacob Ostreicher has finally been freed on bail. I hope that this gives some comfort to Ostreicher and his family, who have waited far too long for his release. I will continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for his access to a swift trial and full due process protections under the law. There must also be a serious investigation into the merits of the case, in light of the criminal allegations against high-ranking Bolivian officials involved in his case.”
