Turkish Police Arrest Sefer Torah Thieves

Turkish police report four men are under arrest after they tried selling a stolen Sefer Torah to an antiquities merchant, telling the merchant the Torah is ancient, dating back 2,000 years.

The merchant suspected something wasn’t kosher since he feels the oldest Sefer Torah available is 500 years old, and such a find would be rare. He notified police.

Authorities are working to determine the actual age of the Sefer Torah and to track down its owner.
