Israel: Winter Storm Leaves Many Without Power

In the Jerusalem District, which includes Yehuda, Shomron, Beit Shemesh, Abu Gosh and the Jerusalem corridor, thousands of residents experienced power outages during the night as a result of the winter storm. According to Israel Electric Company officials, most of the outages resulted from downed electric lines, the result of falling trees.

The Israel Electric Company Jerusalem District opened its operations room on Wednesday, 27 Teves 5773 to monitor the situation as the storm began increasing in intensity. Today, Thursday morning, IEC officials report the situation is under control and in most cases; repairs have been made to restore power.
