A Look at the Satmar Rebbe’s Sunday Schedule During His Eretz Yisrael Visit

A major rally will take place Sunday evening at Jerusalem’s Kikar Shabbos in honor of the arrival of the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg, HaRav Zalman Leib Teitlebaum Shlita. At 4:00pm Sunday, 9 Shevat 5773 the rebbe’s flight is scheduled to land at Ben-Gurion International Airport. Dozens of prominent Eida Chareidis tzibur rabbonim will be on hand for the kabolas ponim. From the airport, under a significant police presence, the rebbe will head to the Jerusalem home of Eida Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita for a brief meeting.

Following the meeting, an atzeres will get underway including the participation of many children, the tenokos shel beis raban. The main atzeres at Kikar Shabbat will begin at 8:00pm. The Rebbe and Eida Gavaad are expected to address this event.

Dozens of Satmar donors will reportedly be accompanying the rebbe on his trip, and the rebbe is expected to distribute $5 million to his mosdos in the coming days for not taking part in the Zionist elections.

  1. the chason ish said its a MITZVA to vote…many gedolim since have agreed… The Satmar rebbe comes to Israel and cost us hundreds thousands of sheq in his security while preaching not to participate in the country…

Moderators Note: First of all, your comment was highly modified. Secondly, not that YWN is taking a position either way (because we are not), but let it be noted, that the Satmar Rebbe was planning on this trip way before Bibi called for elections. His granddaughters wedding was scheduled close to one year ago.

Also, just think of the amount of money his chassidim are pouring into the Israeli economy during the trip…..the hundreds of hotel rooms…the gas…the hundreds of rental cars..food… restaurants…millions and millions of shekels.

    Just sayin.

  2. can some one tell me where I can get the $100 for not voting? I called Satmar here in E.Y. and they don’t know anything about it.

Help! I can use the money!!

  3. Why does the Yeshiva World keep posting Satmar’s Press releases? Most of the crown that reads the Yeshiva World doesnt agree with the Satmar ideals. Judiasim was never about putting the other guy down, but rather to bring the other guy up.

  4. Should be a fun, gridlock and EXCITING day.

More police, security and medical personel will be on duty, thanks to the Rebbe for time & 1/2 pay raises.

  5. Commisioner, how can you make such a comment about most YWN readers not following the Satmar ideals. Can you back that statement up?
Truth be told the less anyone takes from the treifah medina the better. My personal beliefs are as follows. Politically I’m for the state of Israel, Religiously I’m not.

  6. With all due respect for #3, “Why does the Yeshiva World keep posting Satmar’s Press releases? Most of the crown that reads the Yeshiva World doesnt agree with the Satmar ideals . . ” That is a mighty bold statement. I am interested in hearing about all my brothers even if they are not exactly like me.

  7. 1st thanks for posting ALL the news.
2nd – for the one posting, “most readers not following satmar ideas”, A statement without a statesman!!
Keep posting news and let them keep commenting, the satmar news here, sure has the most reply’s..lol

  8. To #1 (RamotShilo) the Chazon Ish Z”L never said it’s a Mitzvah to Vote, he never signed any Kol Koreh to Vote neither did he write it in any of his seforim, also, did u know that Satmar chasidim from the US and Europe send $Millions annually to support Yeshivas that don’t accept government funding in E.Y. Saving the medina $Millions.

Moderators Note: You just called Hagon Rav Nissim Karelitz a liar, who said this in public, in front of thousands of people, not to mention in front of Rav Chaim Kanievsky. But that’s ok. Satmar always fudges the truth.

We think that if your going to call a Gadol a liar, you should at least use your real name. Are you maskim? Or should we do that for you?

  9. @Moderators Note: “but let it be noted, that the Satmar Rebbe was planning on this trip way before Bibi called for elections. His granddaughters wedding was scheduled close to one year ago.”
The Rebbe left to Israel earlier than he planned, to address a rally against the elections.

Satmar Rebbe Shlita Coming to Israel – Delta Airlines Accommodates Schedule
When Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently announced early elections would be held on 11 Shevat 5773, a request was sent to the rebbe to move up his flight to permit him to address an anti-election kenos of the Eida Chareidis.

  10. #1 – If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was arriving in Israel with an entire entourage planning to spend tons of money with hotel room cars etc.. do you think it would be appropriate for Israel to protect him with hundreds of police, soldiers , escorts etc.. ??

  11. Chabad is most definitely not “running after Bennett.” Chabad is for Otzma LYisroel in this election. Most of Bennett’s positions in both the security and social realms are the opposite of Chabad positions.

  12. We are now 2 generations past Reb Yolish ZTK”L. If the current Rebbe(‘s) would behave & be on the same high madreiga like Reb Yoel, then they could make such a raucous about not voting in the “Treiffa” Medina! But with court battles & carrying on Shabbos, silence would be the best derech!

  13. To the YWN Moderator, I did not call H’goan Rav Nissim Kralitz, a liar, the fact is that the Chazon Ish z”l did not sign any Kol Koreh stating that it is a Mitzvah to Vote neither is there anything in his seforim about Voting in ey, so we don’t know what was the shita of the Chazon Ish z”l about this subject

MODERATORS RESPONSE: By saying what you said, you called him a liar, and there is a chiuv to protest your despicable behavior. Of course we know what the Chazon Ish held. And Rav Chaim Kanievsky was sitting there when Rav Karelitz said it. For the record, Rav Chaim grew up in the Chazon Ish’s house, and is his nephew. Everyone knows what the Chazon Ish held. And so do you. Your just a mechutzaf Satmar lowlife, who wants everything to go in your direction, and is trying to distort the mesora that 90% of klal Yisroel follows.

And guess who has the same last name as the Chazon Ish? Rav Karelitz. Wow. What a shocker. Know why? Go figure it out. And stop spreading your pack of Satmar LIES.

Your doing a terrible disservice to the legacy of the Divrei Yoel, who just happened to be a huge daas yochid about participating in the Israeli elections.

  14. The Satmar Rebbe zt”l was adamant that those moisdos affiliated with Satmar (Dushinsky etc.) should not take any government monies. On the other hand, he made sure that those moisdos were provided for. And this Rebbe has been fundraising for months in order to be able to do so too.

By the way, look how the Israeli schools and yeshivas are being treated by this same secular government!! What will happen if they lose their subsidies?? They are totally beholden to these anti-chareidim.

The Rebbe did NOT change his schedule. From day one the plan was to leave on Motzei Shabbos. Seats for this trip were booked months and months ago by those going along. Please note that the date of the wedding was scheduled a year ago, and the elections were called for just a few months ago. Had he known that the two would coincide, the Rebbe would never have allowed the wedding to take place during such a politically volatile time. On Tuesday – election day – he will be at the mekoimos hakedoishim, away from Yerushalayim.

Much misinformation and lies were put out by his enemies. At no time was there any promise made to pay off individuals for not voting. Somebody fed that to the Israeli media and it spread like wildfire.

Whether you are Satmar or not, know that the greatest virtue this Rebbe has is his humility and unassuming manner. As a matter of fact I just heard from somebody who was on the same flight, that upon arrival at the airport in EY, one of the airport policemen (who greet VIP guests) remarked: “For such a simple rabbi there is such a huge turnout?”
