Why are litvashe rabbonim directing ANY talmidim how to vote rather than allowing them to study the issues and make their own decisions? They should never be telling sephardeshe talmidim how to vote when Chaacham Ovadia would never think about telling litvashe student how to vote.

Moderators Note: Actually, Chacham Ovadia said Ashkenazim should vote Shas. See the story above this.

1. It's secret ballot.

2. Any respectful yeshiva student says he follows his rosh yeshiva in public matters. Being asked aboutg voting is public, the actual voting is private.

3. Why would you "release" someone? Are they imprisoned? Do any yeshivos tell students what to do during breaks between sederim? Are you saying they are being bitul Torah by voting instead of seder, wheh they have plenty of non-seder time available?
