Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda, known as “The Shuk” is getting a facelift, which includes new signs, modern wiring, a new roof, new lighting and an improved system that will facilitate and improve sanitation in the shuk.

The scheduled overhaul carries a 5 million NIS price tag and the work is scheduled to be completed by September 2013.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat adds that in the past year, 350 million NIS was invested in modernizing the infrastructure in the shuk and city center areas and the city plans to add an additional 150 million NIS in improvements.
