It is not everyone's Minhag to stay up all night. This minhag developed and became popular in Yeshivas over the past 40 or 45 years. 60 or even 50 years ago this minhag wasn't unheard of but it was rare.

Many years ago people would wake up at chatzos and say Tikkun Chatzos. How many people do you know who keep this minhag today?

The more popular and convenient minhogim stay while the inconvenient ones disappear.

Remember, these are minhagim not Halochos!
