According to the secular press, he was a known homeless meshuganah who should have been known to the security guard since he usually hung out in the area, and was known to be harmless. From their description, he should probably have been institutionalized, though the trend in many countries has been to let severely mentally ill people wander the streets.

On the scant facts available so far, this sounds like a “suicide by cop” case, with an Israeli twist. Why would a Jew shout in Arabic, in the presence of a security guard, in a location which is a potential target for a spectacular act of anti-Jewish, anti-Israeli terror?
