Clinton’s Popular, Bloomberg’s Not, New Poll Says

bloA new Virginia poll shows Democratic former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tops other possible 2016 presidential contenders, gives Sen. Mark Warner strong job-approval ratings, and shows voters are split over whether Gov. Bob McDonnell is honest and sick of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg butting into Virginia business.

Forty-six percent in Quinnipiac University’s just-released poll would back Clinton to 37 percent for Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie if the presidential race was today. She’d crush GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz 53 percent to 34 percent.

Sixty-one percent approve of Warner’s performance, unchanged from last month.

Forty-two percent considered McDonnell honest; 41 percent didn’t.

And 52 percent say Bloomberg shouldn’t meddle in Virginia gun-control policy.

The survey of 1,374 registered voters has a plus-or-minus 2.6 percentage point error margin.
