Newly-appointed Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau met with rabbonim of Israel’s Ethiopian community. These qasims (rabbonim) held a first meeting with Rabbi Lau, with Chief Ethiopian Rabbi Yosef Hadani acting as a go-between. Rav Hadani had words of praise for Rabbi Lau and his warmth towards the Ethiopian community. “It is important for you to realize that you have a true friend in the Chief Rabbinate who will do what he can to assist you and the community” stated Rav Hadani.

Rav Lau spoke of his planned changes regarding marriage registration in the Ethiopian community to facilitate the process.
