Abbas is a One Way Partner

abasDefense Minister Moshe Ya’alon told Channel 2 News that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is a partner “one to takes but gives nothing”. He added that the PA leader is not a partner towards achieving a permanent agreement.

The defense minister added that the PA leader says this openly yet for reasons that he does not understand, the PA leader’s words are not believed by many.

  1. There is no “partner”. The minimum positions of each side don’t overlap. The Israelis insist on a zionist state (the last thing they want is a “Jewish” one), in all or most of Eretz Yisrael, and the Palestinians demand an Arab (Muslim) state in all of Eretz Yisrael.

The only possible partner for the Arabs are the “fanatical” Hareidim, who can agree to an Arab state with Jewish autonomy, which is definitely not acceptable to the zionists.

  2. #2 akuperma,

Wouldn’t it be just as halachically problematic for the haredim to have an “autonomy” in the land of Israel as it is for the zionists?
