Comments from US President Barak Obama

The following was posted to Facebook by US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro.

President Obama at the White House after dinner last night:

“Separately, the pictures we are seeing in Gaza and Israel are heart wrenching. People here in the United States care deeply about what’s happening there, and I know there are strong views, as well as differences, about how we should move forward, which is part of American democracy. We welcome that debate. That makes us stronger.

“Our goal has been and continues to be peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. And I will say very clearly, no country can accept rocket fired indiscriminately at citizens. And so, we’ve been very clear that Israel has the right to defend itself against what I consider to be inexcusable attacks from Hamas. At the same time, on top of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that we’ve worked long and hard to alleviate, the death and injury of Palestinian civilians is a tragedy, which is why we’ve emphasized the need to protect civilians, regardless of who they are or where they live.

“I believe further escalation benefits no one, least of all the Israeli and the Palestinian people. So we’re going to continue doing everything we can to facilitate a return to the 2012 cease-fire. We are encouraged that Egypt has made a proposal to accomplish this goal, which we hope can restore the calm that we’ve been seeking. More broadly, however, the situation in Gaza reminds us again that the status quo is unsustainable and that the only path to true security is a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians, where differences are resolved peacefully and in ways that respect the dignity of all people.”

  1. The president is unbelievably naive. He has no vision, only fantasies. Can you imagine a statesman like President Reagan talking like that?

  2. This man has nothing of value to say on any topic. He is a complete & utter loser & Israel should by-pass his opinions. they are the words of a fool.

  3. “And so, we’ve been very clear that Israel has the right to defend itself against what I consider to be inexcusable attacks from Hamas.”

Thank you Mr. President for agreeing that these attacks are inexcusable but for the record Israel decides what isn’t excusable to her regardless of what you think.

  4. This is the equivalent to, you’re a nice guy but

He realizes that it won’t work not to stick in the Israel-has-a-right thing so he stuck it in. And out is very stuck in.

By the away, this is not an ‘escalation’, it is an operation. Know the difference?

  5. Dear Yidden in America,

Reading this is truly an eye-opener as I am experiencing rocket attacks from the poor animals… oh sorry the innocent palestinian people that are so good except for the fact that they want to kill each and every Jew man, woman and child… those tzadikim!

You wonderful yidden in America! Wake up and get your head out of the sand!!! Realize where you are and come home to E’Y where a yid belongs. We will work out all the problems b’yahad … at home! Don’t invest your effort and your money there — it is fruitless, a total waste… How many more signs do you need?? Where you are is rotten thru and thru…How can you really keep mitzvos there and learn Torah with that tumadik air???

Stop listening to nonsense of a golus mentality. There is plenty of parnassa, and etc., etc… etc, here in E’Y. This is the only place that a yid can really live and reach his or her true spiritual potential. There is a plenty of space here for everyone! There is so much to invest and build and develop in our amazing land!!! There is a tremendous aliyah from France and Ukraine, and other countries as well… we are waiting and davening that Jews from American follow suit and all come home. Let’s get ready for Moshiach here!

  6. Always the BUT. Doesnt he realize that the ” pain of the civilians” in gaza is self inflicted and is a result of the indiscriminate bombing intentionaly of civilians in Israel which by the way is a war crime. Secondly does he not grasp that Hamas uses civilians as a shield and places the rockets in civilian buildings,in Mosques’ and hospitals, also a war crime. Maybe he should check with his attorney general who has a view about everything concerning these issues.Moral equivalence.

  7. ” . . . At the same time, on top of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that we’ve worked long and hard to alleviate, the death and injury of Palestinian civilians is a tragedy, which is why we’ve emphasized the need to protect civilians, regardless of who they are or where they live. . .”

Hawaiian, Kenyan, Muslim, or German. It makes no different where he was born or to which religion he commits. He certainly believes in the adage if you repeat the same lie enough times (and with enough commitment) you will be believed.

    1) Humanitarian Crisis? Who sends 100s of thousands if not millions of dollars in humanitarian aid to the people living in Gaza? Who allows shipment after shipment of aid through its borders?

    2) “We’ve worked long and hard to alleviate” Was the Israeli government so difficult to convince to send/allow this aid?
    3) (a) “the death and injury of Palestinian civilians is a tragedy,” The IAF and IDF walk away from target after target, terrorist cell after terrorist cell when they know/see civilians are being used as shields yet suicide bomber after suicide bomber can walk into public buses and eateries and set themselves off killing 10s / 100s of civilians (who else rides the public buses and eats in Sabato?).
    (b) Hamas pledges revenge on any citizen who leaves Gaza to protect themselves and the lives of their children, and that’s not tragic?

  8. Don’t know why there’s so much oopposition to the yarlmuka pic. Didn’t hear any complaining about the cowboy hat or ice cream cone pics?

  9. yiddishemishpacha:
LiChol haDeios, at least some Jews do NOT belong in E”Y.

If there is so much parnassa, why are there still R”L L”A so many collectors of Tzedaka spending thousands of dollars traveling to chu”l from E”Y to collect? Why do so many organizations send money to aniyim in E”Y? Where is their parnassa? Or is it not as rosy a picture as you paint?

As for “signs”, Mashiach would be a great “sign”. The savages are in the midst of sending rockets throughout E”Y yet at that very same time you are telling people to come live there, and for no reason?

And your society is far more rotten. Your government’s very existence is among the greatest meridos baHashem in history. The Brisker Rav called it a kefirah in kol haTorah kulah. He also stated that “two things are certain: Zionism is A”Z and all who live in E”Y stumble in Zionism”.

And Israel’s culture, and indeed its Zionist essence, of nihye kiChal haAmim and the glorification of kochi viOtzem yadi and adoption of yadayim yidei Eisav as part of its very fabric is unique to Israel, not to mention the other imitations of the goyim that the Israeli culture so desperately imitates due to nihye kiChol haAmim.

While the galus is difficult everywhere, the chinuch system outside of Israel does not need to contend with all these issues. Another benefit is that kids can also get exercise and play sports and not be looked upon as goyim for doing so.

Let’s be honest. It is not a good thing to “make Aliyah” due to either Zionism and/or misplaced priorities. If al pi daas Torah it’s better for you in E”Y, then that’s great. But please don’t falsify.
