While we announce the IAF has pounded Gaza and delivered a powerful blow, Hamas sees things differently. Hamas see victory for it feels the battle is symmetrical, that it is holding its own and continuing to fire rockets into cities of Israel at will. No one has done what Hamas dares to do so Hamas feels it can continue.

The military wing is not representative of the political wing as Khalid Meshal sits somewhere in a Gulf State far from danger…

Rules of war permit warning civilians and this is what we are doing. Most did leave Beit Lahiya despite statements to the contrary.

20:15: In the past two hours, 28 rockets were fired at Israel, of which three were intercepted over Gush Dan. It appears, at least for the time being, that the aerial strikes will be increased. As Channel 10 News put it, there is still no enthusiasm for a ground incursion into Gaza, but a growing number of retired senior officers interviewed are indicating ultimately, there will be no alternative.

19:56: PM Binyamin Netanyahu says Hamas will pay heavy price for not abiding with ceasefire. Says no choice but to expand military operations. Read full remarks by Netanyahu, DM Yaalon, and IDF Chief Of Staff Gantz on the YWN Homepage.

18:30: ANALYSIS: Interestingly, it appears Hamas stands alone as al-Jazeera and even Qatar are not siding with Hamas, unwilling to oppose the new Egyptian leader, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

On the one hand Hamas may be desperate, and this means the terrorist organization may feel it has nothing to lose and take the warfare to the end. No Arab nation is coming forward offering the sizable sums of money for Gaza that were announced in the previous rounds of warfare with Gaza. This may represent a new reality for Gaza and Ismail Haniyeh.

16:18: FM Lieberman is addressing the nation in a live televised press conference. He explains the 2005 expulsion of the communities and removal of all the communities yielded increased rocket fire. “When I see the results of the disengagement and the reaction of the world I ask what now?

“The response is clear. They must be removed and the international community must back this. You pressured us and we complied, and now the operation must be taken to the end, to rid Gaza of Hamas. There is no other way than the IDF retaking control of Gaza… Calls for a ceasefire are simply preparation for the next round, permitting Hamas to restock materials and explosives”.

“In light of what has occurred, Hamas’ outright rejection of the Egyptian ceasefire initiative I think we must make a definitive decision. 1. Go in there and clean house create facts on the ground like that filth likes to do say what people want to hear and do what makes sense

  2. Hey Israel, agree to the ceasefire with one condition!
The first rocket that comes in invalidates everything!Lock, stack & barrel!!!
They can NEVER reign in the Hamas beasts! They need to be silenced forever!

  3. Problem is once the momentum stops u become the bad guy for responding to a “slight” provocation
Bomb em good before any ceasefire

  4. a ceasefire is basically hamas saying they have no more weapons left (the frequency of long distance projectiles today has dropped) they just need a few more years to restock again

  5. What is our kind of daas Torah saying about a ceasefire, not that the government necessarily cares that much but we do. There are pikuach nefesh issues involved, balancing the lives that might be saved by even a temporary stoppage of missiles vs. the potential for more attacks in the long run. These things require decisions by people who know the facts and the halacha extremely thoroughly, and I suspect most contributors to this discussion don’t.

  6. With every war the Hamas uses the ceasefire to learn by its mistakes and build better weaponry for ” the next time”.
Buying the ceasefire just to gain some temporary quiet is a recipe for disaster. This time they showed they mean business.
May we have the siata d’shmaya to accomplish the maximum for our future protection……..

  7. YWN reports that the Israeli Security Cabinet has accepted the Egyptian proposal but has the other side. It takes one to start a war but two to agree to a cease fire. Until the terrorists agree, there is no ceasefire.

  8. 10:03 – rockets fell in Eshkol. Okay. 1 hour and three minute ceasefire. But of course, if Israel responds it will be seen as the one who broke ceasefire.

  9. YWN – there is no ceasefire “Three rockets have been fired since the 09:00 ceasefire.” The Israeli Security Cabinet voted 6 to 2 in favor of a ceasefire but until the other side agrees, which its actions show it clearly does not, there is no “ceasfire”. All we are seeing now is the Israelis not reacting to being rocketed.

  10. They hit a chicken coop – now PETA will get involved! How dare those Hamas beasts hurt the poor chickens?

    On a Serious Note!
If the Hamas leadership comes out of their hiding places they may be vulnerable to attacks/targeted assassination attacks! This is why they can’t surrender & agree to the ceasefire!

  11. 11:39: A chicken coop was hit in one kibbutz near the Gaza border”

Where is PETA??? How can they sit by idly while this is taking place? Where is the BBC & NPR?

  12. There can be no ceasfire unless ALL Gaza terrorists handing over ALL remaining rockets and launchers.
    KILL THEM ALL

  13. Hamas has fired sinceceasefire ? Theres no violation u misunderstood ceasefire was meant to tell israel to stop responding and to keep taking it on the chin like a good little jew

  14. Read your work!!!
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu the ceasefire is initiative is worthless.

and only few people requiring assistance for psychological trauma.

  15. Now that they have started defending Israel again, one hopes that the IDF will take a leaf out of the strategy book of British Air Marshal Arthur “Bomber” Harris who in the closing moments of World War 2 destroyed Dresden. Between the 13th to 14th February 1945, the British relentlessly bombed and bombed and bombed, and then some more. Estimates of the number of dead range from 35,000 to 135,000. So far the casualties in Gaza are less than 200. Harris, the esteemed and highly decorated head of British Bomber Command held the view that any area that had anything to do with the enemy war machine was a legitimate target. In the 1930s when the RAF mercilessly bombed some of the Iraqi tribes who were rebelling against the Empire, Harris said “The only thing the Arab understands is the heavy hand.” Netanyahu, take a leaf out of Harris book and finish Gaza off once and for all. You gave them their chance during the morning, they spat in your face and told you it was raining. Enough is enough.

  16. 20:37: PM Netanyahu fires Deputy minister of Defence Danny Danon for talking against the Govt at a time of war.

Well, we knew that was coming. Netanyahu being on the far left & Danon being on the far right.

  17. The gaul of hamas, they want guarantees how funny. You mean they want a guarantee that’s worth more than their guarantee

  18. YAT:
92.1 is kol barama and its only a “silent radio” on shabbos, i was asking what special stations have a constant silent radio without any other shows in yerushaliayim

  19. Am I missing something? “Hamas has closed the Gaza side of the Erez Crossing to Israel.” They have been bleating for ever that they are kept in Gaza like prisoners and now they close and lock the gates themselves. Hope they throw away the keys.
