Chareidi MKs Condemn Attack Against a Soldier in Beit Shemesh

idffChareidi MKs expressed anger and outrage over an attack that took place in Beit Shemesh. A chareidi soldier wished to join a minyan for maariv but extremists ousted him from the beis medrash.

Shas leader MK Aryeh Deri decried “the extremist elements’ that prohibited a soldier from taking part in tefilos in a shul. He called for dealing with these extremists in the same faction terrorists are dealt with.

Speaking to Kol Berama Radio, MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Litzman explained there is not a sane individual that does not condemn the attack that occurred on Monday night in Beit Shemesh. He called the matter very serious and lamented how these few extremists paint the entire chareidi tzibur in a poor light.

The zealots cursed and insulted the soldier and broke at least one window of his vehicle. Other chareidim in the area came to the soldier’s aid, some even offering to pay for the damage to his vehicle.

  1. Personally, MK LITZMAN & GAFNI your words are NOT ENOUGH!

Expell these guys (assuming they are not women) from shul, minyanim, the mikvahs, and even their children from schools. They are rodfim of the highest level!!!

  2. It definitely wasn’t in place to throw a soldier out, especially now during war time. However, this episode and the great anger towards the Israeli military and their uniform should be credited to the accounts of Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett for bringing it to such a level. Before these 2 anti-charedi chevra got their positions in the coalition, soldiers weren’t thrown out of a shul.

  3. Meedah k’neged meedah . They should be thrown out of Klal Yisroel. A real chutzpah not to let a fellow Yid daven to the Ribbono Shel Olam.

  4. Everyone is talking about achdus do these people think that now they’ve done the biggest mitsva by insulting him they will suffer ‘if you insult a fellow jew in public you lose your part in olam habba’.

  5. The satan is trying hard to tear us apart because his time is almost up. We have to stay strong and united. Don’t let anyone ruin it. shalom

  6. My comment was not posted so I will try again.

This story contains unfortunate and inflammatory errors of fact.

Everywhere else that this story has been written up, it says the soldier was verbally accosted AFTER praying, NOT that he was thrown out of a shul and prevented from davening. the story is atrocious enough without inventing even worse details.

Why has YWN not yet even covered the story that charedi yeshivos are canceling bein hazemanim so the bochurim can learn in the zechus of the soldiers?

Moderators Note: YWN HAS covered such stories. Take a look at the homepage…..Click HERE or click HERE.

  7. Meanwhile would you please fix the inflammatory inaccuracies in this story? Nowhere else reports the soldier having been ousted from shul. Original story at B’Hadrei Hadarim says like all the other places (and even the stridently anti-charedi “Failed Messiah”)that he was verbally accosted and they broke his window. That’s already appalling enough.

  8. Rabbi Litzman, Esq., should not think that his bad experience with a police interview was by any means unique. Quite the contrary it is standard operating procedure with police, prosecutors, public defenders, and judges. It begins to show up in things like this, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. For example contemplate Governor Christie in New Jersey and the black guy who ran down a cop operating a speed trap with his tractor trailer.
