Former Mossad Intelligence Agency Director Danny Yatom told Channel 2 News that “we have not achieved our objectives in Gaza”. Yatom explained that the operation began to stop the rocket fire and then the vast tunnel network was discovered. He explained there remains much to do in both areas and pulling IDF troops out of Gaza before the rocket fire stops would be a mistake.
Yatom feels that the international community must become involved towards achieving a long-term diplomatic solution, which likely includes bringing PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) back to Gaza. Hamas must be removed he states, and its leaders must be eliminated.
