It has been learned that among the kevarim damaged in the Rosh Hashanah weekend Arab vandalism attack in Har HaZeisim was the kever of HaRav HaChossid Itche Meir Levin, who was a prominent member of the Gerre Chassidus. Levin was a prominent askan in Poland and he remained active in Eretz Yisrael, including a tenure as a Member of Knesset representing Agudas Yisrael in the first through seventh Knesset.
Gerrer officials are not remaining silent and the chassidus has already been in touch with Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit, who is a frum Yid. An atzeres tefilla may be held this week too in the hope of compelling state and local agencies to act to protect the matzeivos and visitors to the beis hachaim.
