Cuomo Has Big Cash Lead In NY Governor’s Race

cuomNew York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is maintaining his significant cash advantage over Republican challenger Rob Astorino as the gubernatorial race enters its final weeks.

Astorino, the Westchester County executive, reported Friday that he had raised $711,000 for his campaign in the past three weeks. He now has a little over $1 million in his campaign account.

Cuomo’s campaign reported that it had raised $731,000 since Oct. 4 and has $15.8 million on hand. The Democrat reported spending more than $2.3 million on advertisements and $90,000 on polling in the past three weeks.

Astorino’s report shows he spent just over $500,000 on advertisements in the same period.

The numbers come from campaign finance disclosures that were required to be filed with state election officials on Friday, 11 days before the election.

Cuomo’s report shows the campaign received a $2,000 payment from HarperCollins, the publisher of the governor’s new memoir, in exchange for the “rental” of a list of Cuomo’s campaign donors.

The publisher used the names to create a distribution list for letters promoting the book, which went on sale earlier this month.

Polls show Cuomo leading Astorino by double digits.
