Yeshiva University Evacuated After Suspicious Package At Belfer Hall [UPDATED 1:15PM ET]


ywbn11:15PM ET: Yeshiva University has just released the following statement regarding the “all clear” by the NYPD:

Alleged suspicious package reported inside the mailbox in front of Belfer Hall on 184Th Street and Amsterdam Ave. NYPD’s investigations were negative. All clear. Normal activities may be safely resumed.

12:15PM ET: NYPD Emergency Service Units are on the scene and have requested the Bomb Squad to respond to St Nicholas Avenue and West 183 Street. The area has been evacuated, and the buildings are on lockdown.

@YUNews tweeted the following a few minutes ago: “There is police activity in the vicinity of Belfer Hall on Amsterdam Ave bet 184th & 186th. Please avoid the area until further notice”.

    I am a YU guy currently in YU right now. Apparently it was beeping or something like that, so it was something that warranted Law enforcement’s attention.

  3. the all clear was given. Appearantly a suspicious package was found in the mailbox of one of the buildings, but it wasn’t anything problematic.
