The linguistic gymnastics being used here is so clearly baloney. Of course Israel can not be a full regular democratic state where everyone is fully equal in everything about the state and be a JEWISH state. If Israel is a regular democracy it is discriminatory and “racist” to call it “the Jewish state” or to have a Jewish star on the flag or to have a menora symbol or to sing about a Jewish soul in the national anthem. This is obvious. To say otherwise is “linguistic gymnastics” of nonsense. The idea of a Jewish state in centuries old Jewish yearning was the rebirth of the Jewish commonwealth
from ancient times. A land yearned for by Jews for centuries to return to a JEWISH Homeland / Heritage and therbey strengthen simulataneously world Jewry and Judaism. This was also behind Zionism (not so much on Judaism I reckon) and especially after the Holocaust.
