Construction on Jerusalem Student Housing Underway

constnThe student housing complex in the Beit Agron area in the center of Yerushalayim is getting underway. The building will house 400 beds in dozens of apartments and the complex will include a 1,200 square meter commercial area that will serve the students and others in the center of the city. The cost of the project is 70 million NIS.

The buildings are scheduled to be ready for occupancy in October 2016, and in the first stage the first six stories will be occupied, followed by the three additional stories.

The cornerstone ceremony took place in the presence of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat about a year ago. The plans were completed and approved during the last year and now, construction is underway.

The city hopes that in addition to assisting students, the apartments will not only assist efforts to halt the migration of young adults from the capital but result in bringing new residents to the capital as well as bringing increased prosperity to stores in the downtown area.
