Bayit Yehudi Votes For Party’s Lineup Today

benThe 77,000 registered members of the Bayit Yehudi party may vote to select the party’s lineup in the primary elections held Wednesday, 23 Teves. More than a few arguments and disputes preceded the primaries, but today the voters will have the opportunity to select the party lineup with the exception of slots guaranteed for Tekuma faction candidates and the 10th slot. A petition was filed with the courts by attorney Eyal Bar to prevent the election from taking place but the court rejected it.

While some polling stations opened at 10AM, most will only open during the afternoon hours. There are 260 polling station in 120 locations nationwide. 42 candidates are vying for 11 slots including women, Druse and one Arab woman.

Each voter will have to place two slips of paper into an envelope, one for the party leader and then the lineup. Each voter selects seven names of which 3 receive two points and 4 receive one point. Members of the party’s central committee also get a third slip of paper which determines who gets the 10th slot.

Polls close at 10PM around the country.

  1. I am very very hopeful that the new Home Party with Naftali Bennett at the head of the ticket will win. Become the new strong Prime Minister. Looking forward to coming home to Rimat Givat Zev. Robert Rogoff
