Northeast Blizzard Wasn’t A Bust, But It Was A Miss For Many

blizIn the wild world of winter weather, location is everything. So small last minute changes in the air morphed what was supposed to be crippling feet of snow into a handful of inches. Fearful forecasts turned into apologies.

The not-so-great blizzard of 2015 did wallop the Northeast. Long Island and Massachusetts got hammered with more than two feet of snow, and it’s still falling.

But snowfall in the self-absorbed media capital of New York City, shut down in advance, stayed in the single digits. New Jersey and Philadelphia also were spared.

Meteorologists say the nor’easter stayed about 75 to 100 miles east of its forecast track.

So a National Weather Service forecaster in New Jersey – called a hero of 2012’s Superstorm Sandy – tweeted an apology for the errant forecast.

  1. tweeted an apology for the errant forecast more important should reimburse city for all the unnecessary economic losses because city closed subways and many businesses closed due to this errant forecast.

  2. Last time I checked meteorologists were human so forecasts are generally iffy at best. We are relying too much on everything but HaShem

  3. The government offices are in a difficult position now when it comes to snow forecasts. If they remain open, the media blasts them and compares them to Bloomberg II. If they closed in advance and nothing happens, they get blasted for that!

We live in such a crazy world where someone has to be blamed for everything if something does not go according to plan. Sick if you think about it!
