Spain Calls for an Investigation into the Death of its UNIFIL Soldier

unifil.jpgSpain is calling on the United Nations to conduct a probe into the death of its soldier assigned to the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon. The soldier was killed on Wednesday, 8 Shevat, reportedly from IDF artillery fire. The IDF was retaliating for a Hizbullah attack directed at a number of military vehicles that killed an officer and a soldier and left seven others wounded.

Spain’s Foreign Ministry is demanding the UN conduct and immediate probe into the fatal incident, pointing out the soldier was in a watch tower when he was struck and killed.

UNIFIL officials report a probe is underway. Some foreign media reports add that Israel is aware of the position of the UNIFIL tower the soldier was in when he was killed.

  1. Time for these waste of time UN “soldiers” to go home. Who needs them there??? They do absolutely nothing to prevent cross-border attacks, they do nothing to present the reporting of these attacks in the right light at the UN. So, all they end up being is a liability to Israel. Hizbulla doesn’t care one bit if a UN soldier gets killed even if it’s from their own fighters since they aren’t a sovereign state. So it is only Israel who will lose out from these “UN Peacekeepers”. Send ’em back where they came from.

  2. LOOK THIS SHOWS THAT WHATEVER YOU DO YOU ARE THE ONE TO BLAME.

HIZBOLAH FIRED AND KILLED THIS UN GUY AND THEY BLAME US, WHAT IF ISRAEL WAS THE ONE THAT FIRED AND KILLED THE UN GUY?? Lo kol she ken?!

  3. We should give credit to Spain. At least this time they are not claiming that blood of the dead Spanish UN soldier was used by Yidden for smurah matzah backing.
