The family of former cabinet minister Rabbi Benny Alon is calling on the tzibur to recite tehillim for the rav, who is hospitalized in critical condition.
The family did not wish to release any details regarding the rav’s condition and does not want the name of the hospital published. He has been fighting illness for the past number of years.
Rabbi Alon, 61, was the rav of Kibbutz Shluchot and Rosh Yeshivat Hesder Beit Orot in the eastern capital. Rabbi Alon and Rabbi Chanan Porat Z”L established the yeshiva. He served in Knesset from 1996 to 2006 and he was thrown out of the cabinet by Ariel Sharon for refusing to vote in favor of the Disengagement Plan. Since leaving Knesset he remained active working for pro-Israel lobbies and organizations around the world.
Rav Alon is a son of late Supreme Court Justice Menachem Alon and a brother of Rabbi Moti Alon and author Ari Alon.
The tzibur is asked to daven for Rav Binyamin ben Rus bsoch kol cholei am yisrael.
