Pindrus Opts Not to Abide by Boycott of Hebrew U. Panel Discussion

(Wednesday, February 25th, 2015)

pindrus.jpgShas and Yahadut Hatorah MKs have informed organizers they will not be participating in a Hebrew University pre-election panel event. The panel discussion was arranged by a group of chareidi students on campus in cooperation with the “Beliba Choma” project which includes dozens of chareidi students.

Organizers explain that the chareidi MKs declined their invitation to take part in the panel discussion.

Nevertheless, Jerusalem Councilman (Yahadut Hatorah) Yitzchak Pindrus agreed to attend as a panel member. He will be the lone chareidi representative on the panel.

Kikar Shabbos questioned Pindrus’ willingness to sit alongside Yesh Atid MK Dov Lipman. He explained that chareidi MKs sit with Lipman in Knesset communities all the time. Hence, he does not see any issue with doing the same.

Many chareidim who have joined the workforce are expected to attend the pre-election event along with members of the academic community, journalists and students. The organizers hope to conduct an in-depth dialogue surrounding the pressing national events.

I don’t know Pindrus, but generally I wish a chareidi Israeli outreach person would do it as appose to a politician. The politicians are always in lack of good answers or defensive at best…

Rabbi Pindrus is known to be an ethical and straight-shooting person, not a pol.
