PM Netanyahu Accepts Recommendation to Transfer Tax Revenues to the Palestinian Authority

bibPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on erev Shabbos 7 Nissan, approved the recommendation of Defense Minister Moshe Ayalon, the IDF and the ISA, to transfer to the PA (Palestinian Authority) tax revenues that have accrued in recent months.

Accordingly, the tax revenues that accrued up until February will be transferred, offset by payments for services rendered to the PA population, such as electricity, water and hospitalization.

The decision was made – inter alia – based on humanitarian concerns and in overall consideration of Israel’s interests at this time.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “Given the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, one must act responsibly and with due consideration alongside a determined struggle against extremist elements.”

  1. why?why?why? NO return of taxes until they pay their electric & water bills!!1and why pay them so the corrupt officials can get richer and pay terrorists to kill Jews??:

  2. It is in Israel’s interest to continue to collecting taxes for the Palestinians, rather than the Palestinians collecting them by themselves. Not transfering the money threatens the arrangement that is clearly in Israel’s best interests. Whether encouraging Palestinian dependency on Israel is a good idea in the long run is not the question.

  3. Re comment no. 2: I believe that the article says the electric, water and hospital charges owed by the PA to Israel will be offset against the taxes that Israel owes the PA, and only the net balance owed by Israel to the PA will be paid.
