Midwood’s 16 Handles Ice Cream Store Open for Pesach

logoHave a craving for some soft-serve ice cream on Pesach? Chol hamoed is a week long, and you want to take your family out for a cool treat after a long day out on the town?

No problem!

For the first time ever, 16 Handles at 1351 Coney Island Ave. (on the corner of Avenue J) in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood, will be certified KOSHER FOR PESACH by the Kof-K. Beginning on erev Pesach, Friday, April 3, and continuing throughout Pesach, the entire store will be CHOLOV YISRAEL and serving their famous soft-serve ice cream until midnight.

“This entire location has been kashered for Pesach, and all of the equipment they will be using is brand new,” says Rabbi Moshe Lebovits, a Kof-K rabbinic administrator who is closely supervising the transformation. “All of the toppings will of course be kosher for Pesach, and there will be a mashgiach temidi on site at all times to answer any questions.”

16 Handles has been under Kof-K’s strict supervision since January of 2014, and during the year most of their unique flavors are certified cholov stam, with only a few of them marked as cholov yisrael. This Pesach marks the first time all their offerings will be cholov yisrael. In addition to ice cream, they will also be serving sorbets and other fabulous non-dairy options.

“We understand that Pesach is a time when people are extra careful about the food they consume,” adds Lebovits. “My contact information will be freely available if anyone has a question that they would like addressed.”
