Brooklyn: 2 Women Charged In NYC Bomb Plotting Case Plead Not Guilty

terTwo women charged in New York City with plotting to build a homemade bomb to be used in a Boston Marathon-style attack have pleaded not guilty to federal terrorism charges.

Lawyers for Noelle Velentzas and Asia Siddiqui entered the pleas before a magistrate judge during a brief appearance in Brooklyn federal court Thursday.

Both women wore blue prison garb. The 28-year-old Velentzas donned a hijab and smiled at supporters in the court gallery. An attorney for the 31-year-old Siddiqui said he plans on fighting the charges.

Federal prosecutors have charged both women with a count each of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction and teaching how to make such a device. Siddiqui is also charged with lying to FBI agents.

They were arrested last month.
