Halal Truck Seen in Manhattan Bearing KOF-K Symbol

aThe Following is a press release from the KOF-K

Several witnesses have seen a food truck bearing an unauthorized KOF-K symbol.  The company is called King Tut Halal Food and the KOF-K– PAREVE symbol is prominently displayed. The KOF-K is appealing for the public’s help in stopping this fraudulent activity. If you see this truck, please call Rabbi Yehuda Rosenbaum, KOF-K Administrative Director, at 201-491-4610 IMMEDIATELY with the location of the truck so that further action can be taken.

This truck was sighted two years in the City but hasn’t been seen since. The KOF-K has contacted the  State Kosher Law Enforcement Division, and the New York City Department of Health and Department of Consumer Affairs to advise them. Unfortunately, protecting the rights of the kosher consumer and enforcing the rights of the KOF-K is a lengthy and arduous task.

In the meantime, PLEASE HELP US get the word out by forwarding this article on your contacts! Help us prevent anyone from mistakenly eating from this truck!

  1. Why not call King Tut Halal Food? They’re googleable and have a facebook and a webpage indicating where they are located and their contacts.

  2. The truck was sighted two years ago, but hasn’t been seen since?? So all of a sudden you are asking for witnesses now? I think there is a mis-wording here somewhere. I assume that there were recent sightings.

I don’t think I need to do the Kof-K’s research for them, but a 2-second Google search resulted in a few clues. They have a website (http://www.kingtuthalalfood.com/) and a Facebook page, both of which point to a location (50 street & 6 Avenue in Front of Radio city music hall.) If they are not there, Foursquare lists the truck as located at “462 1st Ave”. Finally, you can try using their web page or facebook page to contact them and ask where they are.

I found some articles that mention that they have been at that location since 1995, and possible have two other carts too (location not specified, other than ‘downtown’.)

Note that the picture above is from the FRONT of the cart, showing the tow hitch jack. That is not a view that you would ordinarily notice, not would it be shown in pictures. So if you are looking around for the cart, be sure to check it from that direction.

  3. Hilarious. I think that Halal observers should be warned too. You never know if the whole thing is forged and they’re not eating halal ch”v!

Actually reminds me of the good old days pre Vaad in Far Rockaway, circa 1980. A trustworthy kosher bakery on Mott Ave. closed down and a new one opened up in its place. The sign over the new bakery read Kosher Pareve Chalav Yisroel Glatt Kosher Bakery.Needless to say that stayed open about 4 days and a korean newspaper store magically reopened in its place the day after.

  4. All you wizards of smart, how about taking a sedative.

The truck was seen about a week ago and was all over our Facebook pages.

It just appeared here in YWNville.
