Akko Hesder Yeshiva Closed After Failing Safety Inspection

closedNorthern District fire department officials have issued a closure order for the Akko Hesder Yeshiva.

According to inspector Danny Chaninah, the order was issued on Monday, 26 Tammuz after it was determined the yeshiva building fails to meet minimum safety standards. Chaninah stated the situation poses “a life-threatening situation to talmidim”.

Chaninah told the press that fire department officials have worked with the yeshiva for a number of years in the hope of correcting the violations, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Hence the need to finally issue the closure order.

“The yeshiva does not have an occupancy permit and Zevulun District Fire Chief Chezi Levi worked for years to get the administration to correct violations which has not been done, hence his recommendation to issue the closure order” Chaninah added.

  1. Closing the yeshiva is terrible. But it’s much much better than next month or next year reading a story about talmidim that died trying to escape from some fire in the building…

  2. MazelKGH: So the Bochrim should remain in unsafe conditions?

“Zionists are anti Semites,” the statement itself is absurd, even more so when safety is at stake.

  3. MazelKGH: One other question, if your children (if you have any) were in a Yeshiva that had serious safety issues, would you say the same thing?
