Christie’s presidential candidacy will die of natural causes, without any help from the New Jersey Legislature. The problems with the rail tunnel to New York, the flim-flammery on pensions, and the failure to adequately fund the state’s highway trust fund are just some of the reasons that Mr. Christie will be one of the first candidates to exit the Republican presidential clown car.

As for prohibiting New Jersey taxpayer funds from being used to pay for a governor’s presidential campaign, that sounds sensible. It’s curious that such a rule is not already on the books.
