Arrests Made In Hate Crime At Camp Agudah Midwest

a01As YWN had reported on Sunday, The Van Buren County sheriff’s department says at least two people spray-painted a Nazi swastika on a sign at the entrance of Camp Agudah Midwest late Saturday or early Sunday.

YWN had posted photos that also show swastikas spray-painted on a picnic table and a car.

The FBI was reportedly helping investigate the anti-Semitic vandalism at the camp – located in southwestern Michigan.

Authorities say the vandals also damaged a building at the camp, which is located in Geneva Township, near South Haven.

The attack happened on Tisha B’av.

In a letter to parents on Friday afternoon, the camp says arrests have been made.

The following is part of that letter:

Dear Parents,

I am writing to update you on the incident that took place in Camp Agudah Midwest last week.

As I reported last week, Camp Agudah Midwest has taken this incident very seriously and implemented additional security protocols above and beyond the standards which were already in place. These security measures will be kept in place for the remainder of the summer at which time a full review will be conducted to determine our long term security needs.

Baruch Hashem, I am happy to report that arrests have been made and the violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Van Buren County Police Department for working tirelessly since the incident to bring about the arrests of the violators.

I would also like to thank all of our Camp Agudah Midwest neighbors from near and far, for the many letters of support towards our children, our camp, and peace!
