Pashkavilim in Betar Against Those Threatening to Reveal Corruption


beitarPashkavilim have been posted in Betar Illit against members of the city council opposition, threatening them with ‘nidui’ and ‘cherem’ if they continue their actions. The pashkavilim refer to three members of the city’s opposition who are threatening to expose corruption in City Hall. The pashkavilim are signed by the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Betar, Rabbi David Tzvi Ordentlich Shlita.

Among the opposition members mentioned in the pashkavilim are Rav Pinchas Cohen and Menachem Zeida, who are accused of reporting inappropriate and illegal activities in City Hall to government agencies. The language of the pashkavil states:

  1. I don’t know what’s going on there, or which side is doing what, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to call a notice signed by the Rov of the city a “Pashkavil” – or maybe you don’t know the meaning of the word.

  2. Sad story!
    They are caught between a rock and a hard place!
    There are significant corruption issues but since one is forbidden to tattle-tale the community is kept hostage.
    Sad story!
