Canadian Tourist Arraigned in Tel Aviv Court for Causing a Death by Negligence


chnA 30-year-old Canadian tourist visiting Israel has been arrested and he faces charges of causing a death by negligence. According to police, the man gave a pain ointment to another tourist, a 49-year-old British man. The ointment, which was purchased on the internet illegally contains fentanyl, which is reportedly approximately 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine and roughly 40 to 50 times more potent than pharmaceutical grade heroin. The British man was found dead in his Tel Aviv hotel room.

The suspect was arraigned before the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court on Thursday, 12 Elul.

  1. I don’t understand. Did he eat, inject, or smoke the ointment? What does it have to do with the potency of morphine? What did he die of?
