IBA Employees Protest on Shabbos Fearing Dismissals


ibaHundreds of employees of Israel Broadcasting Authority on Friday night 13 Elul protested in Tel Aviv and Yerushalayim ahead of the planned firing of 1,500 employees. Hundreds of employees took part in a “kabolas shabbos” protest, insisting while management states only 500 people will be dismissed, the real number is 1,500.

The call to the Finance Ministry is “don’t dismantle this family. We have a great deal to contribute”, stated veteran anchorman Yaakov Achi Meir, who made a point of thanking President Reuven Rivlin, who continues to champion the battle to save the state-run station.

The employees participated in the giant shabbos seuda with their families, as children spoke to the press to explain their concerns over their parents losing their source of income.
