George W. Bush Nervous About Post-9/11 World Series Pitch

gwFormer President George W. Bush says he was really nervous before throwing out a post-9/11 first pitch during the 2001 World Series

Bush on Sunday night was at his presidential center in suburban Dallas for a screening of the ESPN Films “30 for 30” feature called “First Pitch.” The documentary will debut Sept. 11, the 14th anniversary of the deadly attacks.

Bush wore a bulletproof vest when he threw a strike before Game 3 of the 2001 World Series between New York and the Arizona Diamondbacks, at Yankee Stadium.

The Dallas Morning News reports Bush said Sunday that he’s glad director Angus Wall did not include him saying “the ball felt like a shot put.”

Wall says the feature is about an extraordinary man doing an extraordinarily brave thing.
