Thursday News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


ywnisrael.israel· Mr. Jim Bennett, the father of Education Minister Naftali Bennett, was niftar in Rambam Medical Center in Haifa at the age of 73. Born in the USA, he made aliyah after the June 1967 Six Day War.

· This is the 11th consecutive day in which Arab women barred from Har Habayis complained to Israel Police. They are barred in an effort to maintain order on the holy site.

· The navy fired at a Gazan fishing boat that was traveling outside of the permitted fishing area. No injuries reported.

· A construction worker in his 30s fell to his death at a construction site on N’vei Yehoshua Street in Ramat Gan.

· 3 youths arrested in Givat Geula Tzion Outpost in Gush Shilo area of Shomron on suspicion of violating an order restricting their movements.

· A Hazmat team ordered the Netiv Batya School in the Bucharim area of the capital evacuated after a mercury compound spilled over. A number of children were transported to Shaare Zedek Hospital complaining of a headache and burning of the eyes. Their condition is reported to be light.
