Finally, Israel Eliminates its TV Tax

ibaThe government last week voted to retroactively eliminate the TV tax back to January 2015. The tax has been levied on Israelis since 1968 to generate funds to keep Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the state-run station alive.

IBA is being replaced in March 2016 with a new entity, Israel Broadcasting Corporation (IBC). It is pointed out however that those in arrears, owing money prior to January 2015, will have to make payment.

The vote passed Knesset in a 23-16 vote.

  1. “23-16 vote”
    A little math:
23+16= 39 out of 120 MKs. That’s less than a 1/3 showing up for work. And I’m paying their salaries.
I’d like to know where can I get my refund for 81 MKs salary?
    Or 2/3 of my taxes.
