A Shabbos Accompanied by Sirens in Some Areas of Southern Israel


airsirenSirens sounded in Sderot and the surrounding areas as well as in Ashkelon on Friday night as the Iron Dome detected incoming rockets launched from Gaza.

One rocket impacted near a home in the Shar HaNegev Regional Council and there was damage to a parked bus and the home. B”H the family was away at the time. A number of people living nearby were treated for anxiety following the attack. A 40-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with chest pain and ringing in her ears. Her condition was described as light.

Later in the night, at about 23:30, sirens sounded again in Ashkelon. The Iron Dome placed in the area recently intercepted a grad rocket. It was the first Iron Dome interception from Ashkelon since the end of Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014.

The air force retaliated, striking terrorist targets in Gaza.
