Jerusalem Officials Have a Less Than Comfortable Kosel Visit

kosJerusalem councilmen on Thursday, 18 Tishrei, took part in an official visit to the Kosel in an act intended to bring attention to the deteriorating security situation in the Old City and elsewhere in the capital. The chol hamoed Sukkos event was planned in advance as was reported by YWN-ISRAEL.

The official delegation entered the Old City via Shar Shechem as planned, and they were met with Arab women who shout and harass Jewish worshippers heading to and from the Kosel, and the councilmen were no exception. In recent weeks, there has been a sharp worrisome increase in the frequency of harassment and other attacks, prompting the councilmen to march on chol hamoed.

Councilman (Bayit Yehudi) Dov Kalmanovich decried the situation, calling on Am Yisrael to come and visit the Kosel and not permit these women to keep them away from the holy site.
