IDF Orphans Bar Mitzvah Moved from the Kosel Due to Security Reasons

koselDue to security considerations, the IDF orphans Bar/Bas Mitzvah event was held at Mount Herzl instead of at the Kosel. The IDF Widows and Orphans Organization will hold a special Bar and Bas Mitzvah celebration for 45 IDF orphans on Monday 29 Tishrei.

Taking part in the event were IDF Chief Rabbi Brigadier-General Rafi Peretz, who presented the children with their first set of Tefilin and conducted a special service alongside the Chief IDF Cantor. The religious ceremony was followed by a festive meal and event at the Jerusalem Theatre in the presence of President Reuven Rivlin, IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkott and Minister of Defense Moshe Yahalom.

IDF Widows and Orphans Organization is the sole non-profit organization recognized by the State of Israel that represents and supports the widows and orphans of Israel’s fallen soldiers. The organization provides social, emotional and financial support to widows and orphans who have suffered the greatest loss: that of a husband and/or father.

From the moment that the family is informed of the tragic news, until the child graduates university, the IDFWO is on hand to support and help those left behind.
