Defense Minister Ya’alon: Terror Wave Not Ending Any Day Soon

yaalonDefense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Monday morning 18 Kislev briefed a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee. He addressed the ongoing wave of Islamic terror attacks that began on erev Rosh Hashanah 5776 as well as the amended draft law.

Ya’alon explained to the members of the committee the chareidi committee is meeting the quotas set for chareidi induction into the IDF and approved service programs. He added the overall enlistment figures are good, including those for the chareidi sector.

He added “This week there will be another enlistment of Netzach Yehuda (Nachal Chareidi) and next week for the Givati Brigade Tomer Union, the relatively new unit for chareidim as well as the Shachar program”. He told the committee the quotas are being met and this year, 2,700 inductees from the chareidi community will enter the military and this is good.

Regarding the ongoing wave of terror, he stated the nation is dealing with isolated acts of terror and on some days there are more attacks and others less. “To my sorrow, this wave of terror is not stopping or waning” he explained.

Ya’alon added “We are using all means at our disposal and taking all possible steps to bring an end to the wave. The IDF stands prepared to continue working towards this end but is also prepared for an escalation”.

So why is there this rush to force Bnei Torah Yeshiva Bachurim to close their Gemarah & join the IDF? The stats tell a different story. Why are the Lapids of the world making Bnei Torah into political footballs?
