Ramapo Police Stop Vehicle With Stolen Plates Taken From Vehicle In Monsey Two Weeks Ago


rpdYesterday (Monday) morning at about 7:00AM, a Ramapo officer assigned to the midnight shift, received a “hit” for a stolen vehicle on his unit’s License Plate Reader. The indicated vehicle was stolen from a Monsey area address about 2 weeks ago.

The officer located and stopped the vehicle on College Road in Ramapo, and was able to quickly determine that the car he had was not stolen, but the license plates displayed were those from the reported stolen vehicle.

The owner (passenger) of the car, a 19 year old male from Spring Valley, was arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and for an unrelated Village of Airmont, NY warrant.

The driver, a 17 year old male from Spring Valley, was issued summonses for numerous vehicle and traffic violations including Unlicensed Operator, Improper Plates, Unregistered Vehicle, Un-inspected Vehicle, and Uninsured Vehicle.

The 19 year old was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail awaiting his court appearances.
