cThe following is via Breaking911.com:

At least 20 cars sank into Lake Geneva on Saturday after visitors attending Winterfest in Wisconsin were allowed to park on the frozen ice.

Emergency services had to pull many of the vehicles out of the water after the vehicles fell through the ice.

As nearby parking lots were full, officials allowed people to park their cars on the frozen lake, unfortunately the ice cracked under the weight of the vehicles.

The Lake Geneva Fire Department was working until around 6pm using a tow truck to remove the renaming vehicles.

An eyewitness reported to local media that she saw a whole row of cars submerged in the water.

According to their website, Lake Geneva’s Winterfest includes human sled racing and other winter events.

The event initially started on Wednesday.

10 cars and trucks were totaled, according to the local police department.

  1. As a frum Jew in Wisconsin- who has been to Lake Geneva- it is shocking that they allowed people to park on ice- I doubt it- people may have done so without permission- it was too warm for that- at least 30- means ice is too thin. We had the same problem a few weeks ago when people tried to drive across Pewaukee Lake to get around a traffic jam- yes we get those. And yes we have more than 20 cars in Wisconsin- seriously- Milwaukee alone is 5 times the size of Lakewood-and that’s the metro area alone (550,000 people) with a wonderful frum kehillah- come visit and check it out! We have free school tuition- thanks to choice- housing for under 200,000 dollars( big houses too- ours has 6 bedrooms)
