NYC Mayor Issues Construction Crane Safety Plan After Deadly Collapse

c010Mayor Bill de Blasio says New York City is implementing a four-point plan to increase safety when large construction cranes are operating.

De Blasio made the announcement Sunday, in the wake of Friday’s fatal crane collapse in Manhattan.

The mayor said there will be new restrictions on crawler cranes during wind conditions. Fines for failure to safeguard equipment will be doubled.

There will be increased enforcement of pedestrian safety alongside crane sites. And neighboring buildings will get more notifications about crane activities.
