An NYPD officer was shot in the shoulder in Brooklyn.

It happened Tuesday evening near Troutman and Wilson Avenue around 6:15 p.m. in the Bushwick section.

The officer is said to be conscious and alert.

The officer was rushed to Elmhurst hospital in serious ccondition.

Officials say the officer was involved in a narcotics operation at the time of the shooting.

Police say that they have two suspects in custody, but one remains on the loose.
