Attorneys General Call on GOP Leaders to Consider Court Pick

supTwenty-one Democratic attorneys general are calling on Senate Republican leaders to act promptly to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

In a letter to Senate leaders, the group of top state attorneys says delaying a hearing or a vote on a nominee would “undermine the rule of law.”

They note their states rely on the Supreme Court to resolve disputes, decide questions of federal law and rule on the constitutionality of state laws. They say a diminished court, which could deadlock in a 4-4 tie, could “ultimately impair the functioning of state governments within our federal system.”

Republican leaders have said they will not hold hearings on any nominee in an election year.

The letter was signed by attorneys general from California, New York, Illinois and other states.

  1. It makes sense to just vote on the SCOTUS nominee because with maniac Trump as the probable Republican candidate Hillary will anyway be the next president.

  2. That’s why the Democrats objected to the idea of Bush appointing judges?????

It isn’t news when Democrats support the party line (or when Republicans support the party line). One expects it.
