MUST LISTEN: Chasidic Resident Of Kiryas Joel Returns THOUSANDS In Cash To Bank They Gave Him In Error

03 [AUDIO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Will the media that never hesitates to slam the Kiryas Joel community, Orthodox Jews, and which takes glee in reporting anything to do with Orthodox Jews report THIS STORY?!

A Kiryas Joel Resident by the name of Mr. Joseph Waldman cashed a small check At Sterling National Bank in Monroe, NY in the amount of $25.00, Wednesday morning, but when arriving home noticed he had extra cash in his pocket.

ALOT of extra cash.

Apparently, Mr. Waldman was given a whopping $2,500.00 instead of $25.00!

Many people would have pocketed the extra money, and the bank would have never even known. But this G-d fearing man did the right thing, and instead made a tremendous Kiddush Hashem!

As can be heard on the attached audio clips, the man called the bank and told them what had happened. They had no idea that an extra $2475 in cash was given to the customer. Mr Waldman tells the bank manager that he will be right back at the bank to return their money – but before hanging up made sure to stress that the teller is a very nice person, and that she should please not lose her job over this.

Don’t hold your breath until this appears in the local media. After all, it would make a Jew look like he didn’t steal money, and as far as the media is concerned all Jews are crooks.

  1. its not such a kiddish hashem because at the end of the day the teller would of fallen short with $2475 and the bank would check and then go back and review the film and would of seen the transaction which got the overage. yes he did the right thing by returning it but is was more avoiding a chilil hashem then making a kiddish hashem.

  2. When the Connecticut Rabbi returned the $98,000 it was National News. So quit being so paranoid and cease blaming everything on Anti Antisemitism. This story pales in comparison to the other one so it does not warrant a headline. If a Jew stole $2500 it would not make it in the headlines either. Its the magnitude that does it whether it is stealing or giving back.

  3. certainly later on this would have been noticed, as the teller would be short by $2475 or so at the end of the day. That is when she reconciles the cash in and cash out in her draw. Seems the teller misread that the check was for $2500 and was not “miscounting” wrong change. So I would say this error would have caught. In a case the teller miscounts and gives back too much money to the customer, that is where the error won’t be caught.

  4. It’s impossible to confuse $25 with $2500. Not on the bank side & not on the recipient side. So as usual there’s more to the story.

  5. Indeed a huge kiddush hashem was made. I do think that rather than being annoyed that not all news stations are covering this story, we should be proud! It means that this is what they expect of us! The news agencies don’t report every time the mail man delivers the mail, or every time the sanitation department picks up the trash, because that’s their job! A Jew doing what is right is not news worthy, it’s his job! When the opposite unfortunately occurs, the real reason we’re in the headlines is because we don’t belong there!

  6. What all the cyncs/naysayers are missing is that he called up and said that he did not want the teller to panic. And he did it immediately. That is what is so unusual.

  7. It is a very nice story but it doesnt have the same potency when the person himself is videotaping and recording and taking pictures of his very own actions. I would have just returned it without all the fanfare. It just seems a little odd how this played itself out. I’m sorry but that’s just my conclusion.

  8. This story makes no sense. Why did he go home with the 25 thousand? Was he not standing by the teller for several minutes while she counted out 25,000 dollars? He knew right away the teller gave him a lot more than just $25.

  9. Thank you, #6 (“its emes”): “A Jew doing what is right is not news worthy, it’s his job!” Very well said. I.e., a quiet kiddush Hashem in everything we do.

  10. In the future if this happens to someone dont call the bank and make a whole to do, thats how you get the teller in trouble. walk discreetly to the teller and hand it to her

  11. U people complaining make no sense to meSomeone did a beautiful thing and everyone has to put in their two cents if it was or wasn’t a kiddush hashem Once again GET OVER IT
