Kosel Rav Calls On Chief Rabbi To Convene Chief Rabbinate Council In Urgent Session

1The Rav of the Kosel and Holy Sites Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz Shlita sent a letter to Chief Rabbi of Israel Dovid Lau Shlita requesting he convene the Chief Rabbinate Council in urgent session to discuss the deteriorating situation at the Kosel.

Rabbi Rabinowitz explains of late, “we are witness to different organizations hosting mixed prayer events at the Kosel, severely compromising halacha as well as the sanctity of the Kosel and the heritage and traditions of Israel.

“I have been crying the cry of the Kosel for months and cannot be comforted amid the realization the situation continues to deteriorate. From month-to-month these deeds escalate including smuggling a Torah in absolute contempt, so-called workshops, women wearing tefilin and Birkas Kohanos…”

Rabbi Rabinowitz calls for immediate attention to address the situation, which he feels demands immediate action.
